¾ c sugar
¾ c water
4 cups strawberries, hulled and washed
¼ c sprite or other lemon lime soda
1/8 t salt
Mint leaves for garnish
Get a nonstick sauce pan under medium heat. Add sugar and water. Stir to dissolve sugar. Bring mix to a boil and cook for 5 – 6 minutes.
Transfer to a bowl and let cool completely. Add strawberries to food processor. Add salt and sprite. Process until smooth. Pour in ½ of the simple syrup.
Process again to mix in simple syrup. Pour onto a large baking sheet and place in freezer for 5 hours. Remove from freezer and place in larger baking sheet with hot tap water. Break apart sorbet and place back in food processor.
Process until smooth and pour bake into dish you froze it in the first time. Cover with foil or plastic wrap. Place back in freezer for 1 – 2 hours.
Remove from freezer and scoop out servings, add a mint leaf or two to each serving dish. This is best served right away. Enjoy.
#Note you will have left over simple syrup. Use for mixed drinks, lemonade or save for more sorbet.
Peace,
