| Spaghetti with Meat Sauce Serves 6 1 ¼ pound ground beef 1 pound thin spaghetti 28 ounce can crushed tomatoes ¼ cup chicken broth 1 4 ounce can tomato paste 1 medium yellow onion, chopped small 4 cloves garlic, chopped small 2 Tablespoons olive oil 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning ¼ teaspoon garlic powder ¼ teaspoon crush red pepper ¾ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon black pepper Get a large heavy pot over medium heat. Add the olive oil. Stir. Add garlic and stir and cook for a few minutes. Add the ground beef, salt, and pepper and cook and brown the meat. Drain beef. Add chicken broth, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper. Stir well. Add tomato paste and crushed tomatoes. Stir, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and let meat sauce cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes and set aside. Cook the thin spaghetti according to package direction, and drain the pasta. Add the sauce to the pasta and give spaghetti with meat sauce a stir, and taste test. Serve. |
