Dough
2 ½ c bread flour
2 T olive oil
2 ¼ t active dry yeast
1 ¼ t honey
1 c warm water
1 t salt
¼ t Italian seasoning
¼ t garlic powder
Toppings
¾ c Mozzarella cheese
¼ cup Parmesan cheese, (optional)
¼ c pizza sauce, homemade or jarred
12-20 pepperonis
¼ t red pepper flakes (optional)
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. On a 12 inch pizza pan add about a tablespoon of cornmeal and spread it around. Set aside. In a large bowl if making by hand, or in the bowl of a stand mixer add yeast, honey and water.
Stir until yeast has dissolve and wait for it to bloom (get all foamy) shouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes if your yeast is still good. Add flour, oil, garlic powder and Italian seasoning. If doing by hand stir until combined (I do this step even if I’m using my stand mixer or food processor).
When it comes together knead dough right inside bowl for 10 minutes. If you’re using a stand mixer turn it on to medium and let it go, using your dough hook for 5 minutes.
Once it’s kneaded toss a little flour on a cutting board and shape into a 12 inch round. Transfer dough to pizza pan. Add sauce, and cheese, top with pepperoni and bake for 15 -2 0 minutes. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes, slice and serve. Enjoy.
