Makes 1 sandwich
5 oz ground beef
2 slices sourdough bread
1/2 medium onion, sliced
1 sl American Cheese
1 sl Swiss Cheese
2 T Thousand Island Dressing
1 T French Dressing (American Style) or Russian
2 T vegetable oil
1 T butter, softened
1/4 t salt
1/8 t black pepper
Caramelize onions by adding oil to a nonstick pan over low heat. Add onions and cook for 30 – 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from pan, wipe down pan.
In a bowl add ground beef, salt and peppers. Mix well with clean hands. Divide in to two pieces and shape each piece into a thin, larger patty. Place patties on parchment paper and place in freezer for 20 minutes.
For sauce mix the two salad dressing together and put in refrigerator. Butter both sides of bread.
Heat nonstick pan back up over medium heat and pan toast both sides of bread. Set aside. In nonstick pan After 20 minutes get the non stick pan back under medium heat and add the patties. Cook until almost done then flip the patties.
Add a slice of cheese to each patty and cover the pan. After 30 -40 seconds turn off heat. To make sandwich spread half the sauce over each slice of bread.
Add 3 T of caramelized onions to bread, on top of that add American Cheese Burger, top with Swiss Cheese Burger and finish with other slice of bread with sauce on top. Cut in half if desired. Enjoy.
