| Amish Sugar Cookies Makes about 30 cookies 2 ¼ cups flour ½ cup butter, softened ½ cup vegetable oil ½ sugar ½ powered sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract ½ teaspoon cream of tartar ½ teaspoon baking soda Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl add flour, cream of tarter and baking soda. Mix well with fork and set aside. Add butter, oil and sugars to a mixing bowl. Using a stand mixer or electric hand mixer beat until smooth. Add egg and incorporate well. With mixer on add flour mixture to mixing bowl a little bit at a time. Add vanilla and mix that in. On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silpat add cookie dough by the teaspoonful about an 2 inches apart. Bake for 7-10 minutes or until the bottoms are golden brown. Move to a cooling rack to cool. |
