Is it the fact that my dad always took us here because they were a cheap way to feed the brood? Is it the cute little castle box they come in?
Is it because of that smell of fried onions? Who knows, but I love white castles burger.
I believe the minute I was off the milk my pops stuck one in my outstretched hand!
Growing up after a little too much partying nobody even consider the now norm, Dennys.
We cruised up to slightly unseemly white castles and ordered “burgers by the bag”. You wasn’t even hungry if you couldn’t down at least 6. No lie.
I live in the South now, and they have Krystal’s and that’s cool and all, but it’s not the same thing at all. Neither are those frozen things in the freezer section of the grocery store.
Now every small burger is called a slider, which is fine with me because I don’t indulge in food snobbery often, however I believe many folks makes them too f’in thick.
I don’t want a meat ball sandwich when I want a slider. I like some of the small designer sandwiches out there. No doubt some are pure works of art and taste freaking fantastic.
But when I want a slider it has to be thin, simple, and have plenty of onions.
Resist the temptation to make the burger patties thick.
