Makes 1 Stromboli
Serves 4 – 6 1 recipe Fast Pizza Dough or 12 ounces your favorite pizza dough ¾ cup mozzarella cheese ½ pound Italian sausage ½ cup thick pizza sauce 10 slices pepperoni 4 cloves garlic, minced 4 black olives, chopped 1 Tablespoon Italian dressing 1 Tablespoon fresh chopped basil ¼ teaspoon onion powder ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper 1/8 teaspoon salt Preheat oven to 425F or 218C. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat. Mix salt, Italian seasoning, onion power and crushed red pepper in a little bowl and set aside. Brown Italian sausage in pan with half the seasoning blend, when it's almost no longer pink add garlic and finish browning. Drain and set aside. Roll out dough right on lined baking sheet into a 11 by 8 rectangle and brush on olive oil with a pastry brush or spread it about using your hands. Spread pizza sauce on top of the olive oil leaving a 1 inch space on the long side closes to you. Then sprinkle on the cheese, then sausage, pepperoni, olives, and basil over the sauce. You can add more cheese on top of the other toppings right now if you like but I don't. Next taking the long end with sauce roll dough toward you. Making sure the seam is on the bottom. Tuck each end of Stromboli underneath itself. Brush top of Stromboli with Italian salad dressing and sprinkle on rest of season mix. Cut 5 shallow slits evenly spaced apart on top of Stromboli. Bake 20-25 minutes. Stromboli should be a golden brown. Remove to cooling rack and wait to it cools down some. Cut using a bread knife. Enjoy. Peace, CK |
