| Potato Gratin With Bacon Serves 6 2 ¼ cup cheddar cheese, shredded 2 cups whole milk 5 Tablespoons butter ¼ cup flour 4 large potatoes, washed, peeled and sliced 1/8 inch thick 4 slices of bacon, cooked, and chopped ½ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon pepper Preheat over to 350f or 177c. In a medium saucepan over medium heat melt butter. Add flour to melted butter and cook and whisk for 2 minutes. Whisk in milk. Add salt and pepper. Cook and whisk until sauce starts to thicken and comes to a slight bubble. Remove pan from heat. Whisk in cheese one handful at a time until its all mixed in. In a 13x9 glass baking dish add a layer of potato slices, top with half the chopped bacon. Add a layer of cheese sauce. Repeat with second layer. Add last layer of potatoes and pour over remaining cheese sauce. Bake until potatoes are done, and the top is golden brown with some nice dark spots. About 50 minutes. Enjoy. Peace, CK |
