4 hot dogs
½ cup of flour plus additional 2 Tablespoons
6 Tablespoons Yellow Corn Meal
¼ cup more Flour
2 tablespoons Sugar
¼ cup plus additional 2 Tablespoons Milk
3/4 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon Baking Powder
vegetable oil for frying
Stick skewers in hot dogs and set aside. Preheat oil 5 inches of oil in a pot large enough to hold the entire hotdog with skewer attached.
In a bowl mix cornmeal, ½ plus 2 Tablespoons flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. In a measuring cup mix egg and milk. Pour the mix mixture into the flour mixture and whisk until combined. Pour batter into tall, narrow glass or cup. Add remaining flour to a shallow dish.
Roll hot dog in flour then swirl in batter until a good coating forms. Place gently into oil and cook and move around with tongs until golden brown.
Remove to cooling rack and repeat with the rest of hot dogs. Serve right away. Enjoy.
