Candy Apples
Makes 8-10 8-10 small apples of your choice, I used Red Delicious, washed dried, stem removed 1 1/2 cup of sugar 3/4 cup water 1/2 cup light corn syrup 1 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 8-10 Popsicle sticks Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Stick a popsicle stick in each apple and place on parchment paper and set aside. In a sauce pan over medium heat add the water, corn syrup, and sugar. Stir and cook mixture until sugar is dissolved. Once the sugar is dissolved let the mixture come to a boil. Let mixture cook until it reaches 310 degrees Fahrenheit, use a candy thermometer. Turn off the heat. Add the food coloring and vanilla extract. Stir well. Grab a by it's popsicle stick and roll around in sugar mixture. Let some of the excess sugar mixture drip off the apple and place on prepared baking sheet. Let cool. As it cools the candy apples will become hard. These can be stored in a airtight container for a couple of days. Enjoy. Peace, CK |
