Buttermilk biscuitsButtermilk Biscuits
Makes 8 biscuits 1 1/2 cups flour 2/3 cup butter milk 1/3 cup shortening 1 Tablespoon sugar 1 Tablespoon baking powder 1 1/8 teaspoon salt Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Add flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder to a bowl with strainer over the top. Sift flour. Add shortening to bowl and cut in with a pasty cutter. Pour in buttermilk and stir until it just comes together. Put a little bench flour on hands. Lightly knead dough and roll out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out biscuits. Lightly re-roll the rest of the dough and cut out remaining biscuits. Then re-rolled biscuits won't be as tender but still excellent. Move biscuits to baking pan and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with butter and honey if you feel like it. Enjoy. Peace CK |
